Current BAC Roles/Functions
Goodwill’s Business Advisory Council has been in existence
since 1998. It is comprised of volunteer members who
represent the local business community.
The primary purpose of the BAC is to provide assistance in
the development and guidance of current and future Goodwill
services, which assist people with disabilities and other
barriers to employment in achieving self-fulfillment through
meaningful employment.
The function of the BAC is to lend advice and support to
Goodwill in the following areas:
- Identification and development of programs to target
specific skills needed in the community
- Promotion of current programs
- Advocating for Goodwill within our community
- Helping to identify employment opportunities for
program graduates through networking with professional
peers
- Promoting the Goodwill mission within the community
by explaining the connection of the donated goods
program to Goodwill services
- Increasing support for the Donated Goods Program by
initiating donation drives and/or partnerships with
businesses/organizations
- Supporting youth services through mentoring and
career-related activities
- Serve as the YouthWorks! program advisory
committee/board
- Developing resources through fundraising, and the
acquisition of grants and janitorial contracts
- Establishing and updating curriculum
