TMC MentorCorps

MentorCorps is a program designed to create mentoring opportunities for at-risk children and adults in the Deep East Texas Region through the use of national service volunteers. MentorCorps, a collaborative project of The Mentoring Coalition, provides 40 part-time AmeriCorps Members each year to serve at partner agencies as either mentors who build relationships directly with clients or mentor coordinators who recruit, manage, and support community volunteers who, in turn, work with clients in need.

AmeriCorps:

  • AmeriCorps engages more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, homeland security, and other areas.

  • Members serve with national nonprofit organizations, as well as with hundreds of smaller community organizations, both secular and faith-based.

The Corporation for National and Community Service:

  • AmeriCorps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, which also oversees Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. It is part of USA Freedom Corps, a White House initiative to foster a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility, and help all Americans answer the President’s Call to Service.
