Goodwill believes that work plays a critical role in a person’s life, as it enables each of us with the economic and social opportunity to control our lives while becoming positive, functional, interdependent members of our shared community. 

We believe that every individual has a right to opportunities, freedom of choice, participation in community life, and self-directness.  These qualities-of-life factors are necessary for self-fulfillment.

Goodwill understands that families and individuals do better when they live in supportive communities, when home conditions are stable, children are safe and thriving, and relationships with significant others are positive.  Individuals can more effectively focus on their employment and career goals when these family strengthening initiatives are in place.  Goodwill understands that when someone goes to work it impacts the whole family.

This philosophy, made functional by our actions, permeates all interactions between Goodwill Industries and the persons we serve.  The ultimate results, therefore, are new abilities gained by the persons served to identify needs, decide methods and ways for meeting needs and achievement of a satisfying place both in the world of work and in the broader community.
